A BRIEF NOTE ON “AMBIENCE AND THE SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION”:

“Creating your ambience is always more successful than change your circumstances”. Is there any relationship between ambience and the second language acquisition?. Doubtlessly the answer would not be no. The word “Second” itself implies that it is not the principal thing. Rather it is behind something. One struggles a lot to learn a second language. Have you ever thought why? Have we ever counted the number of words we use from second language in our daily usage? Nevertheless we have number of opportunities to learn a second language, we learn it consciously, unlike our mother tongue, which is learnt unconsciously. The reason behind this statement is we are not provided with the right ambience to learn a second language unconsciously. Think of the words of second language which we use it in our daily conversation. Is it learnt by you in a proper way? or Is your brain or tongue get accustomed to such usage?. Most probably the second one is the answer, as an illiterate rickshaw puller would use at least ten words of second language in a day.
Ambience, the best tool to Mould us, is the prime concern in making everyone learn whichever language one wishes to learn. For instance if an Indian native child is brought up in Canada, certainly he or she would, in due course , be fluent in both the languages simultaneously. The one from the influence of his or her parents and the other from the environment where the child spends a lot of time in a day. Habits if not resisted soon become necessity. As the case is such, a permanent ambience, if created, anyone can learn any language as easily as possible. With thanks, DHIYANESH KUMAR. P Group-3
